CONROE, Texas (AP) A boy has been charged with capital murder in the slaying last month of a Montgomery County convenience store owner. Sheriff's officials say the boy has been charged as a juvenile in the slaying of Sam Sadruddin at a Conroe (KAHN'-roh) gas station and convenience store. Prosecutors say the boy could be eligible for up to 40 years in state custody if allegations are confirmed.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A Texas House panel will vote next month whether to recommend the impeachment of University of Texas System Regent Wallace Hall. The House Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations has been investigating Hall for months. It met Thursday to review a report of his efforts to have UT Austin President Bill Powers fired.
HOUSTON (AP) The owner of a tugboat that collided with a ship last month in the Houston Ship Channel claims in court filings the ship was speeding and being operated in a reckless manner. Houston-based Kirby Inland Marine alleges the March 22 collision was caused by gross negligence on the part of ship owner Sea Galaxy Marine. The U.S. Coast Guard is still investigating the accident's cause.
HOUSTON (AP) Houston Airport System officials are working toward a $1.5 billion project to rebuild and expand the international terminal at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport. System Director Mario Diaz says the project to overhaul Terminal D is vital to maintaining Houston as an international hub for United Airlines.
