SAN ANTONIO (AP) A former high school football star has been found guilty of helping his uncle plot the murder of his aunt. Leonard Roundtree III denied knowing about his uncle Alvin Roundtree's plan to kill Army Captain Mona McFadden. Prosecutors convinced a jury that Roundtree agreed to deliver the payment to a hit man contracted by his uncle to kill McFadden.
McALLEN, Texas (AP) Former members of a South Texas drug-fighting task force are among those scheduled to be sentenced on federal drug charges in McAllen. Nine former law enforcement officers from the Hidalgo County sheriff's office and Mission police department pleaded guilty to using their authority to steal drug loads and then sell them on to another trafficker.
HOUSTON (AP) A man has been convicted in the 1994 shooting death of his 17-year-old girlfriend at his parents' home in Harris County. A jury sentenced Christopher Stoernell to 60 years in prison for killing Ruth Majewski. The cold case unit of the Harris County Sheriff's Office reopened the case two years ago. Stoernell told investigators at the time that Majewski killed herself.
DALLAS (AP) A Dallas activist linked to online hackers is expected to plead guilty to reduced charges in connection with a case that's gotten the attention of journalism and Internet advocates. Brown was arrested after posting YouTube videos and tweets threatening to investigate an FBI agent. He was then indicted for sharing links to information stolen from an Austin-based company by hackers linked to the collective Anonymous.
