LAREDO, Texas (AP) A South Texas merchant caught with nearly 6,000 bogus designer items has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. A federal judge also ordered Yi Hui Chen to make more than $428,000 in restitution. Chen pleaded guilty last May to trafficking in counterfeit goods.

TYLER, Texas (AP) Southside Bancshares has agreed to buy Fort Worth-based OmniAmerican Bancorp in a $307 million deal. Officials say the combined company will have nearly $5 billion in assets. Southside Bancshares is the parent company of Tyler-based Southside Bank.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas Governor Rick Perry is hitting the road hard with eight months left in office. He's been touting his state as America's best place to do business. Perry isn't shy about job poaching in other states. He scored a big win when Toyota announced it was moving its U.S. headquarters from California to Texas.

HOUSTON (AP) A modified jumbo jet that transported shuttles piggyback to Florida following flights has arrived at its new home in Texas after an 8-mile highway trek. The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft reached Space Center Houston after a slow-moving trip from Ellington Field. Mission Control in Houston served as the center for the nation's manned space flights.
