DALLAS (AP) Dallas police say a 19-year-old high school student has been charged in the death of a friend in an apparent fight over a video game. Johnathan Turner was arrested yesterday at James Madison High School over the March 24th death of Troy Causey. Police say the victim suffered a skull fracture in a fight a day earlier outside a residence.
HOUSTON (AP) A resident of a Houston-area nursing home has been transported to a hospital following an apparent attack at the facility. Harris County sheriff's deputies were summoned yesterday to the Park Manor skilled nursing and rehabilitation center about an alleged assault. Investigators say two residents got into a fight and one used a heavy object to strike the other.
FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) One soldier has died and three others were injured when their helicopter crashed during weekend training exercises from a West Texas post. Sergeant Dwight Burn died when the CH-47 Chinook he was in crashed Saturday night. Another crewmember and two pilots were injured. All four soldiers are with the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade from North Carolina.
EDINBURG, Texas (AP) Officials say surveillance balloons along the Texas-Mexico border have deterred and spotted illegal activity. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection aerostats were originally used by the Department of Defense in Iraq and Afghanistan. Authorities say the balloons have also helped Border Patrol agents save immigrant lives in remote and inhospitable areas.
