HEARNE, Texas (AP) Police in Central Texas say an officer fatally shot a 93-year-old woman who brandished a gun. Robertson County District Attorney Coty Siegert says Pearlie Golden was shot Tuesday night by Officer Steven Stem. Stem was responding to a 911 call about a disturbance involving a woman with a gun. The investigation is being handled by the Texas Rangers.
DALLAS (AP) A Dallas man whose sentence of probation for raping a 14-year-old schoolmate sparked public outrage is due to appear before a new judge to learn the conditions of his freedom. It's believed that State District Judge Carter Thompson can't add prison time to Sir Young's sentence. But prosecutors wan Thompson to tighten the conditions of Young's probation.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) A man wanted in Texas on several charges has been arrested in New Mexico. The U.S. Marshals Service and Albuquerque police say Adam Rico was taken into custody at an Albuquerque motel. They say Rico is wanted in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme in Lubbock that reported targeted a Texas law enforcement officer.
GEORGETOWN, Texas (AP) Georgetown police have arrested a man accused of using a fraudulent credit card at a Target department store. Guo Xing Chen is charged with fraudulent use of identifying information and credit card abuse. Police say no indication has been found of where he obtained the fraudulent data and it's not believed he's responsible for initiating the Target data breach.
