DALLAS (AP) Recent occasional heavy rain in North Texas hasn't eased concerns about drought-stricken lake levels. The North Texas Municipal Water District continues water restrictions that allow lawn sprinkler use just once every two weeks. The district's major reservoir is at 51.6 percent capacity. That's considerably below the 63.7 percent capacity at this time a year ago.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A man who had a yearlong sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he met online has been sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole. The sentence for Robert Ritz comes under a relatively new law that targets people who transport young victims for sex. Ritz's attorney says the sentence is too harsh.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A San Antonio woman has been sentenced to three years in a state jail for the death of her dog that was tied to the bumper of her truck and fatally dragged. A year was added to the sentence for Herlinda Trigo because her truck was considered a deadly weapon and because she has a previous prison record. Trigo testified she didn't know how the dog became tied to the truck.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A San Antonio man who skipped court since jurors began deliberating whether he was responsible for the death of his 3-year-old adopted daughter has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Matthew Aranda was missing yesterday for a second straight day as jurors decided he should receive the maximum sentence after convicting him of reckless injury to a child. Aranda is now considered a fugitive.
