LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A West Texas jury has sentenced a man to death for the shooting death of a man during a robbery of an Italian restaurant. Jurors found Brian Suniga guilty of capital murder Thursday in the December 2011 killing of David Rowser in Lubbock. Co-defendant Sesilio Lopez Jr. is still awaiting trial for what authorities say was his role in the robbery and shooting.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Lawmakers must now decide whether to pursue formal charges that could lead to University of Texas System Regent Wallace Hall being forced from office. The Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations today to consider approval of formal articles of impeachment. Hall has been accused of abusing the powers of his office.

MISSION, Texas (AP) Agricultural leaders from eight states far from the U.S.-Mexico border are to join the Texas agriculture commissioner on a border security tour of the Rio Grande Valley. Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples campaigned mightily on border security in his unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor. Staples says increased awareness could rally support elsewhere for border security and immigration reform.
