SAN ANTONIO (AP) Police have arrested a man in the death of a man whose body was found partly wrapped with plastic and duct tape in a San Antonio creek last month. The body of Russell McKinley was found in Salado Creek. An arrest warrant affidavit said his body showed signs of trauma consistent with strangulation. Police say Allen Fluitt has been arrested on a murder charge in McKinley's death.
GALVESTON, Texas (AP) The U.S. Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board are opening a week of hearings into the collision of a barge and a freighter that spilled nearly 170,000 gallons of fuel oil into the Houston Ship Channel. No injuries were reported from the March collision. The spilled oil coated shoreline on the southern end of Galveston Bay and flowed into the nearby Gulf of Mexico.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) Emmy-winning actress Ann B. Davis has died at a San Antonio hospital. She was 88. Davis played Alice the housekeeper on "The Brady Bunch." The show debuted in 1969 and aired for five years. Davis appeared in various Brady spinoffs and sequels over the years.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) An Austin city pool is set to reopen this week following a $5.7 million makeover after closing five years ago. Bartholomew Pool will reopen Friday with more amenities than any of the city's 50 other pools. Amenities include two water slides, two child-friendly pool areas and a separate 25-yard lap pool and a diving board section.
