AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A two-vehicle traffic accident in Central Texas has sent 11 people to hospitals. Austin-Travis County EMS reports the crash happened last night at an intersection. Austin police are trying to determine what led to the collision involving a car and a pickup truck. Authorities say six victims were in the car while the other five injured people were in the pickup truck.
GALVESTON, Texas (AP) The U.S. Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board are opening a week of hearings into the collision that spilled nearly 170,000 gallons of fuel oil into the Houston Ship Channel earlier this year. Oil traces were found more than 200 miles down the coast on North Padre Island. The accident also snarled traffic for five days on the ship channel.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) Emmy-winning actress Ann B. Davis has died at 88. Davis portrayed Alice on "The Brady Bunch." The show debuted in 1969 and aired for five years. Davis appeared in various Brady spinoffs and sequels over the years.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) An Austin city pool is set to reopen this week after closing in 2009 because of cracks. Bartholomew Pool will reopen Friday with two water slides, two child-friendly pool areas and a separate 25-yard lap pool and a diving board section. The city's aquatic division program manager says the uniquely designed pool was a product of neighborhood feedback.
