FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Officials say they believe a North Texas house fire that killed two women resulted from an accident. The fire happened in eastern Fort Worth early Tuesday. Fort Worth fire Battalion Chief Richard Harrison said arson investigators have concluded that it wasn't intentionally set. Authorities say three other adults and two children were able to escape the flames.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) The Texas Republican Party would endorse psychological treatment that seeks to turn gay people straight under a new platform advancing at the group's state convention. The anti-gay language is partly aimed at rebuking laws in two states that ban so-called "reparative therapy" on minors. New Jersey and California have banned licensed therapists from using such treatments.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) The new Veterans Affairs chief plans a visit to a VA facility in San Antonio as part of his efforts to reach out to veterans nationwide in the wake of a scandal over delays in providing health care. Acting VA Secretary Sloan Gibson is to meet today with staff at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center. Gibson took over the VA last week after Secretary Eric Shinseki resigned.
