FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) The Texas Republican Party now endorses so-called "reparative therapy" for gays under a new platform given final approval at its annual convention. Roughly 7,000 delegates Saturday ratified the platform without debating their party's stance on homosexuality on the convention floor. Gay conservatives had lined up to speak against the therapy language that had been added earlier this week. But they never got a chance to address delegates because a parliamentary motion to approve the full platform was called first.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Tea party insurgents pushing for a harder line on immigration have scored a major victory at the Texas Republican Convention, gutting support of a guest worker program from the party platform. Roughly 7,000 delegates endorsed making the change yesterday in Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Firebrand U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has easily won a 2016 presidential straw poll at the state Republican Convention in his native Texas. Cruz took 43 percent of the vote Saturday, at a gathering in Fort Worth featuring roughly 7,000 delegates. Conservative speaker and author Ben Carson was second with 12.2 percent, with Texas Governor Rick Perry and Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky finishing a close third and fourth.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) When it comes to cow-milking contests, Cleveland Indians catcher George Kottaras is udderly dominant. Kottaras beat Rangers reliever Robbie Ross on Saturday for the second straight year in Texas. The team recognized the state's dairy farmers before the game Cleveland won 8-3.
