EL PASO, Texas (AP) More than 30 people stranded after an aerial tram at a West Texas park stopped have been rescued or walked down a mountain to safety. The El Paso Fire Department says nobody was hurt in Sunday night's incident involving the Wyler Aerial Tramway at Franklin Mountains State Park. Authorities are investigating an apparent problem with a motor.
SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) A man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of two people in a multi-vehicle crash near San Angelo. Investigators say Richard Garcia went off the right side of the road and struck an 18-wheeler ahead of him when he moved back onto the highway. Stephen Wadsworth swerved to avoid the crash and was hit by an oncoming 18-wheeler. Wadsworth and Emily McKenna Word were killed.
McALLEN, Texas (AP) A South Texas beauty spa owner is scheduled to go on trial in McAllen for allegedly injecting a liquid plastic-like substance into clients at her salon. Elva Navarro was indicted in March on charges related to violating Food and Drug Administration regulations. Investigators say one of her clients spent more than two weeks in the hospital after receiving such injections.
BRYAN, Texas (AP) The Texas Department of Transportation is starting a series of 25 public meetings to gather input on the state's long-term transportation needs. The first of the public sessions about the Texas Transportation Plan through 2040 is scheduled for today in Bryan. The last session will be held August 5th in Austin.
