HOUSTON (AP) A repeat bank robber from South Texas has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for an armed holdup in Corpus Christi. Jurors in Corpus Christi convicted Joseph Krist of bank robbery and using a firearm during commission of a violent crime. The case involved the January 2013 holdup of an IBC Bank. Employees were threatened by a man with a handgun.
DALLAS (AP) A man from Canada has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for traveling to Texas and luring a 14-year-old boy he met online into having sex. Phillip Amisano-Camillo pleaded guilty last August to enticement of a minor. A charge of traveling with intent to engage in sexual acts with a minor was dropped as part of the plea deal.
HOUSTON (AP) Harris County prosecutors have advised that results of lab tests of evidence have come into question. The Harris County District Attorney's Office says a DNA lab technician in the Houston police crime lab has resigned. That's after an internal investigation found evidence that he lied, followed improper procedure or tampered with official records.
NEW YORK (AP) An integrated circuit that Texas Instruments engineer Jack Kilby used in 1958 to demonstrate his invention is expected to sell for up to $2 million at auction. The auction house says the integrated circuit was built by Tom Yeargan. Kilby won the Nobel Prize in physics for his work.
