CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Four Texas legislators have been honored by a journalism group for their public service. The Texas Press Association on Saturday announced the awards for House Speaker Joe Straus of San Antonio, Senator Rodney Ellis of Houston, Senator Kevin Eltife of Tyler and Representative Todd Hunter of Corpus Christi. The Friend of the First Amendment awards were presented Friday during the Texas Press Association's summer conference in Corpus Christi.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) What oil and natural gas is found beneath the main campus of Texas A and M University? Seismic surveying testing this weekend may find out. The Eagle, the Bryan-College Station newspaper, reports that sensors are in place around the College Station campus and testing is set to take place through Monday.

PORT MANSFIELD, Texas (AP) The Coast Guard has rescued 10 people from a catamaran adrift in the Gulf of Mexico off Port Mansfield. Coast Guard officials in Corpus Christi on Saturday reported nobody was hurt and the disabled vessel was safely towed to port.

HELOTES, Texas (AP) A suspect in a 2012 attack at a South Texas park that left a woman dead and her girlfriend hurt has been captured near San Antonio. The San Patricio County Sheriff's Office yesterday said 27-year-old David Strickland faces transfer to the jail in Sinton. Officers on Friday arrested Strickland at an apartment in Helotes (hel-OH'-tis), 10 miles northwest of San Antonio.
