DALLAS (AP) The Texas Democratic Party hopes to prove at its state convention that its candidate slate can be enough to end the party's 20-year losing streak in statewide elections. The party hopes to impress independents and young voters with a "more inclusive" platform than the state GOP's. Texas Republicans approved a hard-line immigration stance and endorsed therapy to turn gay people straight at their convention.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) The private art collection of Fort Worth philanthropists Nancy Lee and Perry Bass is scheduled for an exhibition next spring at the Kimbell Art Museum. The Basses collected numerous important works from 19th century impressionists to artists of the mid-20th century. Perry Bass was the nephew and heir of Fort Worth oil tycoon Sid Richardson.
