MCALLEN, Texas (AP) Homeland Security Secretary Jeh (jay) Johnson is traveling to South Texas to tour Border Patrol facilities amid the ongoing crush of immigrant children and families from Central America. FORT STOCKTON, Texas (AP) Attorneys for a West Texas woman convicted of fatally burning her uncle are taking their argument for her exoneration before a judge. Sonia Cacy has fought 20 years to clear her 1993 conviction in the death-by-fire of Bill Richardson in Fort Stockton. A state panel and several experts in fire science say the testimony used to convict Cacy was deeply flawed.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) A Texas congressional committee is convening in North Texas to discuss the technology and cost of water desalination as the state grapples with persistent drought. The meeting comes as that city evaluates options to shore up its drinking water supplies. The Texas Water Development Board estimates the city's supplies are on a trajectory to run dry by 2016.
