HOUSTON (AP) A wrong-way traffic accident in the Houston area has left five people dead and two injured. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the wreck happened early this morning. Investigators say four adults and one child were killed when their pickup truck was struck by a vehicle going the wrong way. Another person in the pickup truck was injured. The driver of the vehicle going the wrong way was also hurt.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) The winning ticket from the January 1st Lotto Texas drawing for a grand prize worth $12 million must be redeemed today. A ticket-holder forfeits any claim to a prize beyond 180 days after the drawing. Unclaimed prizes revert back to the state. More than $837 million in unclaimed Texas lottery prizes have reverted since 1995.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Work to restore river habitat at as many as 30 sites along the Rio Grande in southern New Mexico and West Texas is scheduled to begin soon. The work is part of a program being implemented by the U.S. section of the International Boundary and Water Commission. Officials say the program will be a key aspect of the commission's efforts to restore riparian areas along the river.

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) A new contractor takes over the management of the Pantex Plant nuclear weapons facility in Amarillo this week. The National Nuclear Security Administration chose Consolidated Nuclear Security over Nuclear Production Partners. Nuclear Production Partners is a group Babcock & Wilcox formed to compete for the $22 billion contract.
