PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) Chevron Phillips Chemical says two people are injured after a fire at its Port Arthur facility. Public Affairs Manager David Hastings declined to say whether the two injured were employees or to further identify them or say if they were hospitalized. The Port Arthur Fire Department says it was not called to the scene.

WASHINGTON (AP) A Republican National Committee panel is about to choose between Dallas and Cleveland to host the Republican Party's 2016 presidential convention. Paying for the convention remained the top criterion for the 12-member site selection committee. The previous two GOP conventions have sapped party dollars during election years.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa says the Board of Regents have had a 'fractured' relationship with Austin campus President Bill Powers. Cigarroa met with Powers last week to urge him to resign or possibly be fired. Cigarroa says there has been a breakdown of trust and communication.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell will promote full funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund during a visit to Fort Worth. Offshore oil and gas royalties support the Land and Water Conservation Fund. It has funded more than 42,000 state and local parks, playgrounds, urban wildlife refuges, greenways, trails and open spaces over the last 50 years.
