SPRING, Texas (AP) A man is in custody after police say he killed four of his children and two adults and wounded his daughter critically at a suburban Houston home. Investigators say they plan to charge the man today. Harris County authorities describe the dead as two boys, two girls, a man and a woman.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) President Barack Obama is seeking to recast the political debate over young migrants arriving at the border as a question of Republican willingness to tackle the problem. Obama turned to Texas Governor Rick Perry to try to make his point. The president suggested there was little daylight between Perry's calls for additional assistance at the border and the nearly $4 billion request Obama sent to Congress this week.

HOUSTON (AP) A Houston firefighter has died after his team lost contact with him while fighting a house fire. The Houston Fire Department identified the dead firefighter as Daniel Groover. Authorities say Groover was inside the burning house fighting the flames when he lost radio contact.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) University of Texas System regents will meet in Austin a day after the system announced the president of the Austin flagship campus will step down in June 2015. Today's meeting is seen as a day University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers could possibly be fired after years of clashes with Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa. Cigarroa had wanted Powers to resign by October or risk being fired.
