DALLAS (AP) A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order preventing a North Texas city from enforcing an ordinance that a gun rights group says violates its free speech rights. The Arlington ordinance bars people from handing out printed material at busy intersections and roads. The decision puts it on hold while a lawsuit filed by Open Carry Tarrant County is resolved.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas education officials have announced the seven members of a board of managers that will oversee a troubled Southeast Texas school district. The Beaumont Independent School District has been investigated over its finances and its handling of services to disabled students. The board will assume all responsibilities of the elected board of trustees.

HOUSTON (AP) Two witnesses have told jurors they saw a man fatally shoot a Houston-area police officer and a business owner two years ago on Christmas Eve. Testimony began yesterday in the capital murder trial of Harlem Lewis III. He's accused of killing Bellaire officer Jimmie Norman and auto body shop owner Terry Taylor.

HOUSTON (AP) Funeral arrangements have been set for the six members of a family who were fatally shot in their suburban Houston home last week. The funerals for Stephen and Katie Stay and four of their children will be held tomorrow at a chapel in Houston of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple's daughter survived after being shot. Cassidy Stay was released from a hospital Friday.
