HUNTINGTON, Texas (AP) Officials say a girl has died at an East Texas home as the woman with whom she was living ran an errand and left several other adults to watch the baby. Sheriff Greg Sanches says an initial review indicates the baby apparently died of natural causes. One of the adults checked on the girl, noticed she wasn't breathing and called 911.

HOUSTON (AP) Prosecutors are presenting their case for a death penalty for a man convicted of capital murder in the Christmas Eve killings two years ago of a Houston-area police officer and an auto body shop owner. The punishment phase of the trial of Harlem Lewis III continues for a second day today in Houston. Attorneys for Harlem Lewis III say they intend to present experts to testify that Lewis has an IQ of 76.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) A Texas man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for a car crash that caused a San Antonio police officer's leg to be amputated. A state district judge delivered the punishment to Kevin Balditt yesterday. Balditt pleaded guilty in April to intoxication assault of a public servant.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Closing arguments are set in former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura's defamation lawsuit against the estate of "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle. The Texas man wrote that he decked a man identified in the book only as "Scruff Face" who allegedly said the Navy SEALs "deserve to lose a few." Kyle later said the man was Ventura.
