LAREDO - The Border Patrol abruptly canceled a news conference in Laredo this morning. It was a direct order from U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jay Johnson. The agency was scheduled to discuss their efforts to deal with a surge in immigrants. The Border Patrol in South Texas said a huge increase in immigrant arrests this year overwhelmed them. The RGV sector reports they've made nearly 160,000 arrests since October 1. That's more than double any other sector on the southwest border.
