HOUSTON (AP) A jury in Houston will be sequestered to consider the fate of a home day care operator charged after four children died in a 2011 fire.
Closing arguments are scheduled Monday in the murder trial of Jessica Tata (TAH'-tah), who did not take the stand. Testimony wrapped up Thursday.
Prosecutors allege Tata had hot oil cooking on a stove when she left the children alone to go shopping and the fire broke out. Three other youngsters were hurt in the February 2011 blaze.
Attorneys for Tata have said she did not intend to harm the youngsters, who ranged in age from 16 months to 3 years old.
Tata is charged with four counts of felony murder. The current trial involves the death of toddler Elias Castillo.
