WESLACO – Border Patrol agents seized hundreds of pounds of cocaine in Rio Grande City Thursday afternoon.

The agents were seen on video pulling an off-road vehicle, which was involved in the incident, from the river.

Acting Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz says 700 pounds of cocaine came across the river.

KRGV's Angelo Vargas spoke with the patrol agent in charge of Rio Grande City's sector, Hector Escamilla.

"This is a very valuable narcotic and it's hard to come by because it very well guarded. It's very well protected when loads come across," he explains.

Ortiz tells us nobody is in custody at this time.
