Investigation Looks at Crews Shooting from the Air

WESLACO - Airborne law enforcement crews seldom open fire from the air, a CHANNEL 5 NEWS investigation revealed.
The practice is not common anywhere in the country. Police in the air typically do not open fire on suspects on the ground.
A search of CHANNEL 5 NEWS archives revealed no incidents similar to what happened Thursday north of La Joya.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS filed an information request about any past chases where Texas Department of Public Safety troopers have opened fire from the air.
