David Hernandez, an education specialist at Region One GEAR UP is excited about how today's technology is pumping kids up for college.

"Which is interactive, it has video, it has interactive features such photo slide show, 3d aspects, things of that nature that students could utilize, tap in to and be engaged with through an iPad."

Hernandez says GEAR UP is working on something new.

"We are currently in development of our own iBook textbook which will be launched very soon via our iTunes website."

Hernandez adds that iTunes site is in development and will be launched soon hopefully in the next couple of months.

"That is a way for us to distribute media content such as videos, those iBooks I mentioned, any type of publication, podcast, just a way to distribute media out to our schools via the iTunes site."

Region One says hands down, this will be one of their best ways to get their message out about college readiness.

"Now the beauty of it is, it's not just exclusive to our GEAR UP school, any school district or any user that has access to iTunes will be able to subscribe and view our content and so our message of college readiness will be available for anybody who has access to iTunes application which is pretty much universal."
