Javelinas becoming ongoing nuisance in Mercedes neighborhood

MERCEDES – People in a Mercedes neighborhood seeing more and more javelinas, meaning conflict between man and wildlife.

Juan Cruz, a resident living along Melton Park Drive, says javelinas got through his fence, attacked his dog and ate the pet’s food. He added it’s time to ask the city for help.

Hidalgo County cowboy Teo Matinez was called in to help. He helps law enforcement with cases involving animals. Over the last two weeks, he’s captured 13 javelinas in the area.
