SAN AUGUSTINE, Texas (AP) An East Texas jury is deliberating the sentences of two women convicted of kidnapping a Houston boy when he was 8 months old and hiding him for eight years before he was found.
Jurors got the case Tuesday after closing arguments in the punishment phase of the trial of Krystle Tanner and her mother, Gloria Walker.
The same jury earlier Tuesday found both women guilty of kidnapping. Walker also was found guilty of injury to a child, while the jury found Tanner guilty of a lesser charge of reckless injury to a child. Miguel Morin is now 8 and disappeared in 2004.
Both Tanner and Walker told jurors they did nothing wrong. Prosecutors said both women neglected Miguel during the time they kept him.
