LAREDO - The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (20-19-6) used power play dominance, with and without the man advantage, to stop the Laredo Bucks (18-25-1) 5-3 in CHL matinee action Thursday in Laredo. The Bees scored on three power plays and kept the Bucks on all six attempts skating with the extra man. Kirill Startsev, Dan Gendur and Tomas Klempa scored the first three goals of the game, all in the first period, forcing Laredo to pull goalie Torrie Jung for Ryan Rondeau. RGV led 3-1 after the first 20 minutes. Neither team scored in the second period. The Bees pumped the lead to 5-2 on third period goals from Gendur, his 16th of the season, and Reid Edmondson. John Murray made 32 saves in the victory. The Bees face Allen on Saturday and Tulsa on Sunday afternoon.
