MISSION- A La Joya Independent School District employee and her husband have been charged with assaulting two children.
The woman and man are charged with assault of a child, a class A-misdemeanor. The man has also been charged with injury to a child, a 2nd degree felony. He was given a $10,000 bond.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS confirmed the woman works the La Joya school district.
According to Mission P.D., it was the Mercedes police department that called Mission police about the case. Officials say two girls, ages 10 and 15, were beaten with a belt on the rear and the legs.
Child Protective Services has been called to look into the case. A trial date has not been set for the adults.
