LAREDO - The Border Patrol is mourning the death of one of their own; 25-year-old agent Jeffrey Ramirez died.
Customs and Border Protection officials say Ramirez was conducting a training class in Laredo in 90-plus temperatures. Following the class, Ramirez was transported to a local hospital for symptoms of dehydration. He was treated and released.
The following day, he was found unresponsive and taken back to the hospital. There, he was treated for heat stroke. He remained in critical condition for several weeks until his death.
Ramirez had a wife and a son.
