SAN ANTONIO (AP) Heavy rain in parts of Texas has flooded roads, left campers stranded and forced evacuation of a hotel during a weather-related fire.

San Antonio firefighters early Friday responded to a lightning strike at a Holiday Inn.

Investigators say lightning blew a hole in the roof. The estimated 50 guests were safely evacuated and the fire extinguished.

Austin-Travis County EMS reports about a dozen campers on an island in the Colorado River needed help Friday after their boats floated away during flooding. A helicopter safely transported the men to land.

Forecasters say the Austin and San Antonio areas recorded nearly 3 inches of rain since Thursday night, prompting street flooding. Storms earlier Thursday swamped some North Texas roads.

About 11,000 CPS Energy customers in the San Antonio area lost electricity Friday.
