ROMA – Rio Grande Valley law enforcement is being deployed to Eagle Pass for the migrant caravan.

Department of Public Safety troopers and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers are among the law enforcement that is being deployed.

“It's common when you live in a border town. You hear people always crossing over here,” explains local resident Marissa Ramirez.

KRGV’s Rudy Mireles spoke with Roma’s Assistant Chief of Police Francisco Garcia about the illegal crossings that have taken place in the area.

He says his officers are encountering more family surrenders.
