ALAMO - The body of an Alamo soldier killed in combat is headed home.

Sgt. Fernando De La Rosa died in a roadside blast last week. Flags continue to fly at half-staff in Alamo in his honor.

Family members tell us funeral arrangements for the 24-year-old are set for Monday. Details haven't been finalized.

De La Rosa died alongside seven other soldiers in a roadside explosion in Afghanistan.

He previously served two tours in Iraq.

His relatives say he was just two weeks away from coming home.

De La Rosa leaves behind a wife and two children.

His body is expected to arrive Saturday morning. He'll be taken to memorial funeral home in San Juan.

We're told Saturday's services will be private.

A public viewing will be held Sunday, starting at 3 p.m. It'll continue until 9 p.m. A rosary is set for 7 p.m. Sunday.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS is still gathering information on what time the funeral will be held.
