EDINBURG - Hidalgo County commissioners have appointed an interim county judge.
In a 3-2 vote, Rene Ramirez was selected for the post. Ramirez is the chief of staff for State Senator Juan Hinojosa.
He'll be filling in the post left behind by J.D. Salinas. Salinas accepted a federal post as a regional administrator the U.S. General Services Administration.
He officially announced his departure on Friday.
