SAN BENITO - A San Benito teen wanted by authorities is in Cameron County jail.

Police say 19-year-old Ruben Delgado led officers on a high-speed chase Tuesday night.

Delgado allegedly ran red lights, stop signs, and picked up speed into Harlingen, when an officer tried to pull him over.

Police say he was throwing baggies out of the window and finally pulled over near Stuart Place Road. Authorities found 21 ecstasy pills from the baggies and inside Delgado's car.

The 19-year-old was charged with evading arrest, tampering with evidence, and possession of a controlled substance.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned he was wanted earlier this year by the sheriff's department for a similar charge.

Two females inside the car with Delgado weren’t charged.
