HIDALGO COUNTY - You could see it in all their faces, this moment, a soldier's goodbye, would last far longer than just this one day.

"We hope the family does feel the support that is there in our community," said Wilfredo Garza of the Knights of Columbus in Alamo.

Strangers, friends and family gathered on a stretch of road. Everyone feels the loss of 24-year-old Sgt. Fernando De La Rosa.

Isabel Harmillo, Jr. didn't know De La Rosa, but he says he came out to pay his respects and to teach his daughters about the sacrifices of brave men.

Flags and signs lined the frontage road as people waited to pay their respects to Sgt. Fernando De La Rosa. His body was brought back to the Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan
