EDINBURG - An Edinburg mother says the name calling her son endures never stops. The 10-year-old's father happens to be black. The 5th grader is a student at Stephen F. Austin Elementary.

The concerned mother didn't want to show us her face, but she's worried about her son. She says he gets teased because of his African American heritage.

The mother says she took her concerns to the school principal and then up the chain of command.

"I spoke to the person who does transfers and from there I went to the superintendent. The superintendent informed me that that I should be aware there isn't a lot of black people in the Valley. Some schools may not even have black people it's kind of like condoning these kids," she said.

Now she's wondering why the school isn't doing anything to stop the harassment her son has to endure.

The Edinburg Independent School District Superintendent wouldn't comment or go on camera.
