LAREDO - The Rio Grande Valley Magic opened the Lone Star Football League playoffs with a 50-47 victory over the Laredo Rattlesnakes. Trailing late, the Magic went ahead with 9.5 seconds left. The Rattlesnakes attempted a game-tying field goal as time expired, but the kick sailed wide right. In the league's other semifinal Saturday, Amarillo defeated West Texas 56-42. That sets up a title showdown between the Magic and Amarillo in San Angelo next Saturday.
