WESLACO - A man accused in the 2010 mass murder of dozens of immigrants in Tamaulipas is behind bars.
Arturo Benitez Ramirez is believed to have acted as a smuggler for 72 people headed to the U.S.-Mexico border three years ago. Their bodies were discovered on a ranch in San Fernando. A lone survivor managed to escape the mass murder and called for help.
Authorities in San Luis Potosi confirmed the 59-year-old's arrest across the border. He'd reportedly been living in Houston but was visiting Mexico when he was arrested.
