MCALLEN - He said he was caught in the middle. Jose Garcia and several friends said they found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time minutes after finishing dinner. U.S. Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement officers chased an alleged smuggler across several Rio Grande Valley cities Friday night.

Garcia said before they knew what was happening, they were in the path of that suspected smuggler. The vehicle's headlights were shining through the back window of their car.

"By the time you know it, he was right in the back of us. He was tailgating us. He almost hit us. I was scared for our lives," Garcia said.

Despite all that was happening around him, he decided to take video of everything that was happening with the camera in his cell phone. The video captured law enforcement vehicles racing up and down streets in all directions; the video even shows a helicopter in the sky following the suspect's vehicle.

Border Patrol agents said the chase began in south Alamo and ended in McAllen.

"The chase continued all over the city of downtown McAllen everywhere. You could just see the helicopters just circling around just everywhere," Garcia said.

He said everyone in the car last night consider themselves lucky and they hope justice will be served.

Border Patrol agents did eventually arrest three people. Those suspect may face smuggling charges and possible deportation.
