Man Convicted on Human-Smuggling Charges

McALLEN - A jury on Thursday convicted a man on human-smuggling charges.
Jose Luis Tobias, 28, was found guilty after a two-day trial. Court records show Tobias was part of an operation that transported illegal immigrants to an area south of the Falfurrias Border Patrol check point.
He was also linked to a stash house where Border Patrol agents found 31 illegal immigrants in September in Edinburg.
Tobias faces 35 years in prison. He will be sentenced in February.
