Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting

HARLINGEN -One man is dead after police shoot the armed elderly man and neighbors speak out on the violence.

The shooting happened south of Ed Carey Drive in a community neighborhood. Police arrived on the scene and say they witnessed the man shoot his, what they believe to be, his wife.

Marvin Dikeman lives in the area and he tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS he has never seen this sort of violence.
"We're in shock over something like this happening in our community, there's other people dying. It has not been a good year for us here with old age and heart attacks and stuff like that it's taken its toll. When something like this happens it's a shock to us."

The Texas Rangers were called in to help Harlingen Police investigate. Police say it is standard practice to have another agency review the shooting.

The victim was rushed to the hospital; her condition is unknown. There is no motive in the shooting, the agent ices will continue to investigate.
