SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) Regents of the Texas Tech University System have named Brian May as president of Angelo State University.

Board members Wednesday approved May, who last month was named sole finalist for the job.

May has been on the Angelo State agriculture faculty since 1994. Since April he's been provost and vice president of academic affairs for the school in San Angelo.

May earned bachelor's and master's degrees in animal science from ASU. He holds a doctorate in ruminant nutrition from Texas A&M.

May succeeds Joseph Rallo (RAHL'-oh), who earlier this year was named vice chancellor of academic affairs for the Texas Tech University System.
