MCALLEN - McAllen police are tallying the haul from their latest stash house raid. It happened tonight in the 2300 block of Fairmont.
Police went into the house around 7 tonight and began pulling out bundle after bundle of suspected drugs. Toss after toss, the bundles came out from the home in the upper middle class neighborhood.
A CHANNEL 5 NEWS crew counted 61 bundles in the first truck and then police loaded several more into the bed of a second one. One neighbor who did not want to be identified said he was not surprised.
"For about a year or so there's been some unusual activity coming and going. ... Just some unusual vehicles, people coming and going when the house was empty, there's still people going in and out. It was just a very odd situation," says "John," the neighbor.
No word tonight from police on what led them to the home or whether they made any arrests. They did not take any suspects into custody while we were there.
"We thought we lived in a nice neighborhood. It was very scary," says John.
Inside the house, we could only see pizza boxes and soda cans on the front table.
No word tonight from police on who owned or was renting the home.
