MISSION - Mission fire investigators are getting some help in their search for a possible serial arsonist. They released video of a car law enforcement wants to find.
January 25 at 1 a.m., home surveillance video shows as a suspicious vehicle casing 28th and 29th streets. The car eventually comes to a stop near a home under construction. Moments later, blinding flames break out.
"Within 30 seconds, we had visible proof of flames from the structure," says Mission Deputy Fire Chief Gilbert Sanchez.
The car is gone by the time neighbors and firefighters arrive. A pile of charred, splintered wood was all that was left. It was a total loss for contractor Martin Villarreal.
"There's a motive of possible spite or revenge. Also, since it's a construction company, subcontractors, employees or so on," says Sanchez.
Fire investigators still don't know why this contractor was targeted three times. The answer could be with whoever is behind the wheel of the car in the video.
Contact Mission Crime Stoppers at 956-581-8477 if you recognize the car.
