NEW YORK - A Mission native is among those waiting for Hurricane Sandy to hit the East Coast.

Eric Holquin lives in Brooklyn. He said public transportation stopped service Sunday night. Subways and buses stopped service so it's very difficult to get around the city, he said.

He said officials ordered the evacuation of Manhattan.

The streets of New York are empty, Holquin said.

"Trees are falling, branches are falling and the storm hasn't hit yet," he said.
