KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) A Missouri man who walked into a downtown Kansas City federal building and set off a bomb scare after asking whether he was on a government terrorist watch list says it was all a misunderstanding.

Officers closed off several blocks near the Richard Bolling Federal Building following the incident Friday. A bomb-sniffing dog and robot searched the man's car. The FBI says a four-hour search turned up nothing threatening.

Wahed Moharam tells The Associated Press he was simply trying to figure out why his name showed up as flagged during a traffic stop and never mentioned a bomb. He says he was treated well by the FBI, allowed authorities to search his car and wasn't in trouble.

The FBI says the large-scale response was based on initial limited information.
