EDINBURG - A man who planned and executed a deadly home invasion will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Ricardo Sanchez Munoz on Wednesday was convicted on capital murder and organized criminal activity charges. Capital murder means an automatic life sentence.

Surveillance video captured images of Munoz and other men arriving at Reyes Garcia's home. The group jumped the fence and shot Garcia in his own backyard in 2010.

Marilu Garcia said it was hard to hear the details of her son's murder. But she is ready to do it again.

"The autopsy ... when they were explaining all the details of the gunshots. ...That was really awful, but I knew I was going to have to hear it," she said.

"I know it's hard, (but) I don't really care. ... I'm going to go through it no matter how hard it is. My son wasn't prepared for what he had to go through and I don't care what I have to go through until he gets justice," she said.

She said five more defendants have to answer for her son's death. Those suspects include her son's wife and sister-in-law and high-ranking members of the Tri-City Bombers gang.

"He had no way of defending himself because it was all planned," she said.

Garcia said she expects life sentences for all the suspects.

"He wasn't expecting something like that to happen that night," Garcia said.
