Murder Suspect Now Facing Charges Identified in 2011

EDINBURG - The man accused of killing an Edinburg school district administrator in 2005 is back in the Rio Grande Valley to face charges. Claudio Alberto Morales is in the Hidalgo County jail.

The 41-year-old will face charges almost a decade after the murder of Arturo Noe Sanchez. Edinburg police said Morales robbed and killed Sanchez.

The crime was unsolved for years. In January 2011, authorities got a break in the case. Police said DNA evidence collect at the time of Sanchez's death matched Morales'.

Morales had been arrested for a bank robbery in El Paso. Investigators told us they had to wait for him to finish serving his time in El Paso, before they could bring him to Hidalgo County. Morales was formally charged with capital murder on Friday.
